BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Browns rookie quarterback Connor Shaw is preparing to start the season finale on Sunday against Baltimore.
With Brian Hoyer still slowed by a sore right throwing shoulder, Shaw will likely be behind center when the Browns (7-8) conclude another disappointing season. The Ravens still have a shot at the playoffs.
Hoyer was on a stationary bike Friday during the portion of practice open to media. Shaw and recently signed backup Tyler Thigpen were the only QBs on the field.
Rookie Johnny Manziel was placed on injured reserve this week after injuring his hamstring last week at Carolina in his second start.
Shaw, an undrafted free agent from South Carolina, will be the 22nd quarterback to start a game for the Browns since 1999.
Coach Mike Pettine is expected to announce his starter following practice.
