EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) – When a team misses the playoffs for three straight seasons, coaches and players attract critics.
Longtime coach Tom Coughlin has been under the microscope for weeks with the New York Giants (5-9) out of contention, and now some of his best players are being criticized.
Safety and defensive captain Antrel Rolle is the latest. The 10-year veteran is in the final year of a five-year contract that is paying him a $7 million base salary, and his play has not been as good as a year ago when he led the team in tackles (106) and interceptions (6).
While many wonder whether the 32-year-old should be re-signed, Rolle has no doubts that he can still play the game and help the Giants.
