FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – Rex Ryan reiterates he knew nothing about the wall of players the New York Jets formed on the sideline last Sunday against Miami, during which an assistant coach tripped a Dolphins player.
Ryan was responding Friday to comments made by Brian Billick, his former boss in Baltimore, who told New York’s 1050 ESPN Radio that “of course Rex knew about this.” Ryan says he wishes Billick asked him first, and “he’s wrong.”
Some media and fans have speculated Ryan and other coaches must have known inactive players were ordered by strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi to stand together on the sideline. Ryan says he isn’t a guy “who lies about anything.”
Alosi was suspended indefinitely by the team after tripping Miami’s Nolan Carroll.
