CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -The Cincinnati Bengals say receiver Chris Henry has suffered “grave injuries” and his family is with him at the hospital, a day after he was hurt in what police describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.
Bengals president Mike Brown released a statement Thursday saying they are “stunned to have learned this news.” The team’s director of security is scheduled to arrive in North Carolina to offer assistance to the family.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a dispute began at a home Wednesday and Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his fiancee was driving away from the residence.
Police say at some point as the woman drove, Henry “came out of the back of the vehicle.” He was found on the road about a half-mile from where police say the dispute began.
