PITTSBURGH (AP) – The Pittsburgh Steelers are getting plenty of contributions from role players as they make a push toward the postseason.
Young wide receivers Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant are taking some of the pressure off Antonio Brown on offense. Veteran cornerback William Gay is having the best season of his eight-year career after injuries pushed him into a starting role. Linebackers Jarvis Jones, Sean Spence and Vince Williams are all making an impact for a defense that is getting better and getting healthy at the same time.
Coach Mike Tomlin says he’s pleased with what he’s seen the last two weeks but added the Steelers (9-5) can’t afford a misstep on Sunday against Kansas City (8-6). A victory over the Chiefs assures Pittsburgh of its first playoff berth since 2011.
