ASHBURN, Va. (AP) – The lack of a bubble is hampering the Washington Redskins as they prepare for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Players actually had to get in their own cars and drive from team headquarters to a nearby gymnasium Thursday to practice because of a steady snowfall.
The Redskins are one of a handful of NFL teams without an onsite indoor practice facility.
Redskins Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs never wanted a bubble – he preferred to practice in the elements because that’s where Washington’s home games are played.
But current coach Mike Shanahan prefers not to practice in steady rain or on a frozen field. He says he has spoken to owner Dan Snyder about the need to build an indoor place to practice.
