WASHINGTON (AP) – Monday Night Football analyst Ron Jaworski tells Congress that childhood obesity levels in the U.S. are “startling,” and says kids need to get more exercise to help stem the epidemic.
Jaworski, a former NFL quarterback, was testifying Wednesday on behalf of both his United Way Jaws Youth Fund and the “NFL Play 60,” a campaign that encourages youth to be active for at least 60 minutes a day.
He talked up the efforts of both groups at a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing. Jaworski made his points in the same way he dissects a blitz on TV, saying at one point, “Gimme 60 minutes!”
Jaworski posed for photos with some lawmakers and signed autographs for staffers.
