DETROIT (AP) – Walter Gaiter showed up at Ford Field for free tickets to the New York Giants-Minnesota Vikings game.
He was about an hour and $100 short as some scalping began. Gaiter says he was in line at 10 a.m. ET Monday when he and hundreds of people braving frigid weather were told the free tickets were no longer available.
The Lions say there was an “overwhelming response” to tickets for Minnesota’s home game that was moved to Detroit’s indoor stadium because heavy snow collapsed the Metrodome’s roof.
The Lions said those holding a ticket to the Giants-Vikings game scheduled in Minneapolis will be admitted and given preferred seating in Detroit. Fans with tickets from Sunday’s Packers-Lions game in Detroit will be admitted free with no reserved seating. Ford Field seats 64,500 people.
