Tennessee quarterback Vince Young strained his right hamstring Sunday during the second quarter against the St. Louis Rams and didn’t return as the Titans finished off a 47-7 rout.
Coach Jeff Fisher described Young’s injury as mild.
“We will just see how he is throughout the week,” Fisher said.
Young came into the game as questionable because of an achy right knee he aggravated during practice Thursday, a setback that caused him to leave the session early. He watched Friday, but warmed up with apparently no problems Sunday.
He started off strong, going 6 of 8 for 132 yards with one touchdown. He was hurt at the end of the longest run of his four-year career, a 44-yarder down the left sideline where he ran out of bounds as he grabbed at the back of his right leg. Young went down to the ground and put both hands onto his hamstring.
Young said he could have returned if it were a playoff-type game.
“I just kind of tweaked my hamstring a little bit, so I just got off of it and told coach, ‘I’m just going to sit it out. I didn’t want to get too bad with it and injure it worse,” Young said.
allas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware was hospitalized with a sprained neck, sustained when he slammed headfirst into a San Diego Chargers lineman.
The Cowboys said Ware was “aware and alert with full movement and strength in his extremities” when he was taken off the field. He was transported to the hospital for X-rays and further evaluation.
“Initially, it looks like right at the base (of his neck), he had a sprain,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. “We feel very good about everything was moving, everything was going. It was just by the nature of where it was. … The doctors felt good.”
After getting hurt early in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys’ 20-17 loss, Ware was immobilized on a stretcher and carted off the field after several anxious moments. Teammates Marcus Spears and Terence Newman went over to Ware and spoke to the three-time Pro Bowl linebacker while he was being loaded onto a cart.
As he was being taken off the field, Ware waved both hands, giving a thumbs-up and flashing a “W” with his fingers. He was also talking to people around him.
Ware was pursing quarterback Philip Rivers when he collided into Brandyn Dombrowski. Ware’s head went straight into Dombrowski’s upper leg, the linebacker remained on the ground.

Gradkowski injured his left knee while getting sacked in the first quarter and then the right while trying to avoid a pass rusher in the closing minute of the first half.
Gradkowski was diagnosed with a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee and a partially torn MCL in his right knee.
He will have an MRI on Monday and says he will do whatever he can to get back on the field during the final three games.
Seattle first-round pick Aaron Curry suffered a right hip pointer in the fourth quarter against the Houston Texans.
Coach Jim Mora said Curry will travel home with the team and undergo an MRI Monday.
The linebacker was injured trying to make a tackle late in the Texans’ 34-7 victory. He was hit in the back by fellow linebacker David Hawthorne and lay on the field for a few minutes before being taken away on a cart.
“It’s a pain deal,” Mora said. “It didn’t look like he could walk off the field.”
Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith left the game against the Baltimore Ravens with a left knee injury.
Smith caught a 15-yard pass from Daunte Culpepper, but crumpled to the ground in the open field after his left knee gave out. His leg twisted awkwardly just before he fell to the turf.
Trainers attended to Smith, who was helped from the field and onto a cart. He gained 69 yards on 21 rushing attempts.
Kansas City Chiefs starting defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey limped to the locker room just before halftime against the Buffalo Bills. Dorsey hobbled off the field late in the second quarter with a knee injury and headed inside after trying to walk it off.
