MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -It didn’t take Antoine Winfield long to show everyone just what the Minnesota Vikings were missing in his absence.
The 5-foot-9 cornerback made an immediate impact in his first game in two months. After sitting out six games in seven weeks with a right foot injury, Winfield led the defense with nine tackles and forced a fumble in Minnesota’s 30-10 victory over Cincinnati on Sunday.
Winfield dropped what should have been an easy interception in the second quarter. But he even induced cheers for that when he did 10 push-ups as punishment.
Winfield’s biggest play of the day came at the end of the second quarter. He upended Brian Leonard in the flat, forcing a fumble that led to a field goal just before halftime.
