EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) – E.J. Henderson is something of a medical marvel.
The Minnesota Vikings middle linebacker has played all 12 games this season despite breaking his left thigh bone just more than a year ago in a game against Arizona.
There was no documented case of an NFL player returning from this kind of injury. Trainers Eric Sugarman and Tom Hunkele (hunk-LEE) put together a rehab program from scratch, and Henderson made it back to start the season opener at New Orleans.
The Vikings have presented Henderson’s case both locally and nationally. It’s been written up in medical journals and is considered the road map for future cases.
Henderson is second on the team with tackles and leads all linebackers with three interceptions.
