FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -Kerry Rhodes is unhappy with the uncertainty of his role with the New York Jets after being demoted two games ago.
Rhodes says he will be on the field for the first defensive snap Sunday in the Jets’ game against Tampa Bay, but is uncertain how much he’ll play after that. Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said Rhodes isn’t necessarily starting in the base defense, but the safety is up in most packages.
Coach Rex Ryan demoted Rhodes in favor of Eric Smith before the team’s game against Carolina on Nov 29. Ryan has refused to say whether Rhodes regained his starting job.
Rhodes said he got angry at defensive backs coach Dennis Thurman during practice Thursday because he was frustrated by the rotation with Smith.
