INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Colts safety Bob Sanders will not play again this season after being placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
The move came hours after team owner Jim Irsay wrote on Twitter that the Colts “need the roster spot with so many injuries.”
Sanders tore the biceps muscle in his right arm during the first quarter of the season-opener.
He’s the 15th Colts player on injured reserve this season. Cornerback Jerraud Powers joined the list Tuesday after having surgery to repair a broken right forearm.
Running backs Joseph Addai and Mike Hart, receiver Austin Collie, cornerback Kelvin Hayden and linebacker Clint Session will not play Thursday night at Tennessee.
Indy promoted defensive back David Pender from the practice squad.
