FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – The New York Jets went to New England looking to make a statement.
They did. The wrong one.
A day after being embarrassed on national television, the Jets were left wondering how everything went so wrong in a 45-3 drubbing on Monday night. A tired-looking and bloodshot-eyed coach Rex Ryan says Tuesday that his team was outcoached and outplayed.
He says “the NFL deserved a better game than that,” while the Jets are getting clobbered by fans and the media for their performance.
Ryan acknowledges that there’s plenty the Jets (9-3) need to fix before their game Sunday against the Miami Dolphins (6-6). He also says “we’re far from pressing the panic button.”
Ryan insists the Jets’ goal – a Super Bowl – “is still attainable.”
