DETROIT (AP) -Minnesota Vikings quarterback Gus Frerotte did not start the second half against the Detroit Lions because of a lower-back injury.
Tarvaris Jackson replaced him Sunday and helped Minnesota score a go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter. Jackson lost his job to Frerotte after an 0-2 start.
Frerotte was 7-of-10 for 70 yards with two interceptions against the Lions.
In Jackson’s first two starts, he barely completed half of his passes, threw one TD, one interception and averaged about 150 yards passing.
Frerotte helped the Vikings win seven of 10 games and move atop the NFC North, entering their game against the winless Lions.
