BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Browns coach Eric Mangini said he was torn between “pain and happiness” when Cleveland squeaked out a win over Carolina.
Mangini’s face was expressionless after Panthers kicker John Kasay’s last-second field-goal attempt banged off the left upright, giving the Browns an emotion-packed 24-23 win. Mangini said the win felt somewhat bittersweet because the Browns (4-7) played a solid all-around game but nearly blew it.
As far as Cleveland’s complicated quarterback situation, Mangini said he will wait until later in the week to see how far along rookie quarterback Colt McCoy has come with his ankle injury before deciding on a starter for Sunday’s game in Miami (6-5).
Jake Delhomme started against Carolina and beat his former team despite throwing two second-half interceptions.
Browns center Alex Mack felt the Browns “were really lucky” to win.
