PITTSBURGH (AP) -Pittsburgh Steelers fullback Dan Kreider was placed on injured reserve Thursday and will miss the rest of the season because of a knee injury.
Kreider was hurt Monday night against Miami.
Tight end Jon Dekker, an undrafted free agent from Princeton, was added to the 53-man roster to replace Kreider. The team had been without a third tight end since Jerame Tuman went on injured reserve Nov. 14.
The Steelers also added offensive lineman Jeremy Parquet to their practice squad. Parquet was a seventh-round pick by Kansas City in 2005.
Kreider, who was not drafted in 2000 but has been the Steelers' starting fullback most of the time since then, was playing a lesser role in the offense this season. He started four games, but had only one carry for 2 yards and often was replaced by a tight end for blocking purposes.
