ST. LOUIS (AP) – Chris Long anticipates playing for the first time since the opener for the St. Louis Rams.
Although Shaun Hill’s last-minute goal-line interception was costly in last week’s three-point loss at San Diego, the defense was shaky after making consistent improvement for several weeks.
Long is a longtime stalwart at defensive end for the Rams, and before undergoing left ankle surgery hadn’t missed a game in six NFL seasons. He’s increased his practice participation since the Rams started the 21-day window to activate him from injured reserve-designated for return.
Both Long and coach Jeff Fisher seemed optimistic about a return this week against the Oakland Raiders (1-10).
