CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Carolina Panthers quarterback Jimmy Clausen has been cleared to play following a concussion and will start Sunday against Jake Delhomme and Cleveland.
Clausen practiced for a third straight day Friday and coach John Fox says doctors have signed off on his return. The rookie will be matched against Delhomme, Carolina’s former starter who will start for the injured Colt McCoy.
Fox says the backup QB will be a game-time decision after last week’s starter, Brian St. Pierre, and rookie Tony Pike were limited in practice Friday with sore arms. Behind them is Keith Null, signed to the practice squad Tuesday.
Running back Jonathan Stewart is probable as he returns from a concussion. Left guard Travelle Wharton is one of four players listed as doubtful.
