PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Josh Harris now finds himself as the team’s unlikely Plan B at running back.
Harris is now the primary backup to Le’Veon Bell after the Steelers cut LeGarrette Blount last week. Harris was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster because of his work ethic and speed.
Harris ran for over 2,000 yards in college at Wake Forest but went undrafted in May. He initially blamed ”slanderous remarks” from the Wake Forest coaching staff for teams shying away from him but says it was a blessing in disguise.
Not getting drafted allowed Harris to wait for the right opportunity, and he hopes he’s found a home with the Steelers (7-4), who host New Orleans next Sunday.
