BEREA, Ohio (AP) -Browns rookie cornerback Eric Wright will miss Sunday's game against the Houston Texans with a sprained right knee he insists is not as seriously injured as has been reported.
Wright got hurt on Cleveland's first defensive play last week in Baltimore. He was helped off the field and carted to the locker room.
``It's something that looked worse than it really was,'' Wright said before Cleveland's injury report came out Friday. ``I got it twisted up a little bit.''
Wright wanted to get back on the field against the Ravens.
``They locked me in the locker room,'' he said. ``I was trying to go out there for the second half.''
Earlier this week, a TV report said the Browns feared Wright would miss four to six weeks.
``That's funny,'' Wright said. ``I know I never said anything like that. We'll have to see how it progresses.''
Daven Holly, who made 12 starts last season, will likely replace Wright in the starting lineup alongside cornerback Leigh Bodden.
Offensive tackle Kevin Shaffer planned to test his injured knee during practice Friday and said it's possible he could play Sunday. He's listed as questionable.
Cleveland's defensive line is also banged up as end Shaun Smith and Ethan Kelly missed practice time this week with knee injuries. Kelly is listed as doubtful while Smith is questionable.
