DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -Jake Long is hurting. Brandon Marshall is hurting. The playoff odds are long.
Nonetheless, the Miami Dolphins are holding out hope for the postseason.
The Dolphins take a 5-5 record into Sunday’s game at Oakland. Perhaps stubbornly, even after being embarrassed in a 16-0 loss to Chicago on Thursday night, the Dolphins are saying their postseason chances are very much alive.
That longshot idea of a playoff berth is why Long, who can’t fully extend his left arm because of an injured shoulder, is playing with a harness. It’s why running back Ronnie Brown, despite being on a career-long drought of 15 games without a 100-yard rushing performance, hasn’t ripped into his fellow players and the coaches.
And it’s why coach Tony Sparano isn’t panicking, at least not on the outside.
