Despite forcing six turnovers – four on interceptions – and carrying a lead into the fourth quarter, the Browns were beaten 24-20 on Sunday by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Cleveland dropped to 1-5 this season in games decided by seven points or less.
The Browns (3-7) couldn’t capitalize on Jacksonville’s generosity, and for the second week in a row, Cleveland’s defense gave up a big play late because of shoddy tackling.
Coach Eric Mangini has come under renewed fire because of a game plan some believe was too conservative. The Browns had exhausted all three of their second-half timeouts with more than three minutes remaining.
Quarterback Colt McCoy suffered a sprained ankle in the second half.
