PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Jason Worilds began the season as a stopgap. Now he's becoming a vital member of a defense that is starting to round into form.
Worlids has three sacks in Pittsburgh's past three games, including nearly recording a safety against the Detroit Lions last weekend while filling in for injured LaMarr Woodley.
Worilds has played so well this season he's been able to hold off rookie Jarvis Jones from taking over the starting spot at right outside linebacker. It's the kind of play the Steelers expected when they took Worilds in the second round of the 2010 draft.
Worilds says his approach hasn't changed but that he's been able to make quicker decisions due to increased playing time.
