NEW YORK (AP) – Comments on the Baltimore Ravens by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
BALTIMORE RAVENS (5)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 3): 24 wins over last two seasons and a happy Ray Rice.
Chris Berman (ESPN, 4): After all, Ravens should have been in Super Bowl.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 4): No contract problems for Ray Rice equals good news for Ravens. Now they have to hope Defensive Player of Year Terrell Suggs can get back in time from Achilles tendon injury.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 4): If they can overcome loss of Terrell Suggs, Ravens will be right there.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 5): Suggs loss hurts immensely but this team knows window is closing and will play with urgency reflecting that.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 6): Ravens keep knocking on door, and if defensive stars are healthy in January, they could break through.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 6): Loss of two outside linebackers Suggs and Johnson can’t be underestimated.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 7): Joe Flacco was brilliant against Patriots in AFC championship game.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 8): Absence of injured LB Terrell Suggs will hurt AFC’s best pass rush.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 8): Time running out for Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 9). Baltimore – I don’t know how Ravens overcome loss of Terrell Suggs.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 17): The window may have closed on storied veterans Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Matt Birk when Billy Cundiff missed tying field goal in last season’s AFC championship game loss to New England .
