FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -New York Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez says he made a mistake by opening his postgame news conference by reading from a statement he prepared after losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Sanchez says he sat at his locker after the 24-22 loss Sunday and wrote out thoughts in anticipation of what he might be asked. He then quickly read from the sheet, rattling off specific key plays and offering a summary of what he thought went right and wrong in the loss.
The awkward moment rubbed some in the media the wrong way as Sanchez was criticized for appearing immature and unprofessional.
Sanchez said Wednesday he knows “it didn’t go over very well,” and said it is “hopefully, a one-time mistake.”
