ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -The Denver Broncos have released former first-round pick Jarvis Moss, who never lived up to high expectations under coaches Mike Shanahan or Josh McDaniels.
Moss had just 40 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks in 33 games over 3 1/2 seasons in Denver after Shanahan used the 17th-overall pick of the 2007 draft to select him out of Miami.
He moved from defensive end to outside linebacker when McDaniels arrived last year and implemented a 3-4 scheme, but found no more success. His illegal block negated a late touchdown against San Francisco in the Broncos’ 24-16 loss in London last month.
Moss was released on the same day pass rusher Robert Ayers returned to practice for the first time since fracturing a foot against Baltimore on Oct. 10.
