MIAMI (AP) -Miami linebacker Joey Porter has been ruled out of the Dolphins’ game against Tampa Bay because of a coach’s decision.
The Dolphins didn’t give any information on Saturday about the reason for the move by coach Tony Sparano ahead of Sunday’s home game.
Porter has been slowed by a sore right hamstring for much of the season, but he participated in the full practice Friday. He made no tackles in last week’s loss at New England and has only 2 1/2 sacks this season, compared with an AFC-high 17 1/2 last year.
In an unrelated move, the Dolphins signed tight end Kory Sperry from the practice squad.
