FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -Former Patriots wide receiver Troy Brown was honored at halftime of New England’s game against the New York Jets on Thursday night.
Brown spent all 15 of his NFL seasons with the Patriots and retired after playing in one game last year. He is the Patriots all-time leading receiver with 557 catches and was on three Super Bowl champions.
“Without you, none of this would be possible,” Brown said from a podium set up at the 50-yard line before pointing toward three championship banners hanging in the stadium. “You deserved all the credit for what has happened here in Foxborough.”
Team owner Robert Kraft praised Brown’s contributions to the team and called him “one of the greatest football players in franchise history and one of my own personal favorites.”
Before the game, Brown said the moment that defines his career was after the Patriots won their first Super Bowl in 2002.
e come out in the freezing cold to the parade, it was amazing,” Brown said. “It was just a fantastic sight to see the streets of Boston just packed with happy and overexcited fans.”
