SAN DIEGO (AP) -San Diego Chargers wide receiver Chris Chambers went through his first full practice since spraining his ankle Oct. 5.
Chambers, who came over from Miami last year in a midseason trade, played in the Chargers’ win Sunday over the Chiefs, but his injured ankle didn’t allow him to start and he didn’t have any receptions.
Chargers coach Norv Turner said Chambers is considerably better this week and he hopes to get more from the receiver when the Chargers face the Steelers on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
“I want to be out there, I want to make plays and I want to score touchdowns,” Chambers said. “I got off to a good start and I really wanted to keep that going.”
In the season’s first three games, he was among the league leaders with four touchdowns catches. He now has 16 catches for 273 yards and five touchdowns.
“It’s gradually getting better,” Chambers said of his ankle. “I would imagine that I would be much better this week.”
Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jamal Williams didn’t practice Thursday, but Turner said he was just resting the 11-year veteran.
