TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Tampa Bay running back Carnell “Cadillac” Williams is returning from a career-threatening knee injury that’s sidelined him for more than a year.
The Buccaneers activated Williams from the reserve physically unable to perform list before practice Wednesday, and he could get some playing time this week against the Minnesota Vikings. The fourth-year pro has been out since September 2007, when he tore the patellar tendon in his right knee against the Carolina Panthers.
Williams was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year when he rushed for 1,178 yards and six touchdowns in 2005. His production has been limited the past two seasons because of injuries.
