ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -Buffalo Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman is out indefinitely after aggravating an injury to his right Achilles’ tendon in his first practice with his new team.
Coach Chan Gailey categorized the injury as being “short term,” saying it could keep Merriman out for up to two weeks. Gailey provided the update after Merriman missed practice Thursday, a day after he was hurt.
The injury occurred a week after Buffalo claimed the once-feared pass rusher off waivers from San Diego.
The Chargers placed Merriman on injured reserve last month because of a left calf injury. The player had also complained about soreness to his Achilles’ tendon. The Bills (0-8) had hoped Merriman could play against Detroit (2-6) on Sunday.
