Running back Clinton Portis left the Washington Redskins’ 31-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday after taking a blow to the head.
Portis departed with 3:20 remaining in the first quarter after a helmet-to-helmet hit from safety Thomas DeCoud. The Redskins said Portis had a head injury and would not return.
There was no penalty on the hit.
Portis was helped to his feet after being checked by the medical staff on the field. He appeared shaky at first, then walked off the field with a towel over his head.
Washington quarterback Jason Campbell left with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter but returned for the next possession. Campbell was hurt when tackled from behind by Jonathan Babineaux.
Offensive tackle Mike Williams departed with an ankle injury on the same play.
It was Campbell’s second injury of the game. He left with a chest problem after he was sacked for the fifth time in the first half. He returned for the start of the second half.

Bengals receiver Chris Henry wasn’t sure whether he’d play again this season after he broke his arm during a 17-7 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Henry broke his left forearm just above the wrist when he was tackled by cornerback Fabian Washington after a 20-yard reception. Henry’s back hit the ground and Washington landed on top of him. A replay showed the forearm bowing slightly.
The medical staff put an inflatable cast on the arm and called for a cart to take him for an exam. Henry said he won’t know his status for the rest of the season until he sees a specialist Monday.
Henry was a key part of the 2005 Bengals team that made the playoffs, but fell out of favor because of five arrests. The Bengals released him after his last arrest in 2008, but owner Mike Brown changed his mind and decided to bring him back over the objection of coach Marvin Lewis.
Henry was suspended by the NFL for the first four games last season because of his off-field problems. He played in the last 12 games, catching 19 passes for 220 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He has stayed out of trouble since his return.
He was fourth among Bengals receivers this season with 12 catches for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Henry was used mostly on third-down plays, with Chad Ochocinco, Laveranues Coles and Andre Caldwell getting most of the playing time.

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook was inactive against the Dallas Cowboys.
Westbrook missed the Eagles’ rout of the Giants last week with a concussion sustained a week earlier in a victory over Washington. Coach Andy Reid said this week that Westbrook should be “good to go” against Dallas.
Eagles trainer Rick Burkholder says Westbrook started experiencing symptoms of a mild headache on Friday. Westbrook underwent more tests and the Eagles held him out as precaution.
Westbrook has 197 yards rushing this season.
