PITTSBURGH (AP) -Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger landed hard on his right side while throwing a pass in the third quarter against Baltimore on Monday night and left the game.
Roethlisberger rolled out to his right and completed an 45-yard pass to Santonio Holmes before being shoved to the wet turf by the Ravens’ Terrell Suggs. Roethlisberger limped off the field, then had his right hip checked by team doctors behind the team bench.
The Steelers said only that he was removed with a hip injury before Roethlisberger came back with the Steelers leading 38-7
The injury came in one of the best games of Roethlisberger’s four-season career. He threw five touchdown passes in the first half, tying a team single-game record, as the Steelers took a 28-point lead.
