METAIRIE, La. (AP) – Saints running back Pierre Thomas is using crutches after practice to keep pressure off his sprained left ankle and says he’s frustrated by the length of his recovery.
Thomas has not played since the injury occurred late in the Saints’ Week 3 loss to Atlanta. On Wednesday, he was at practice, participating in the team stretch and did some light jogging. But on Thursday Thomas was absent from practice during the portion open to reporters.
Thomas says his ankle is not getting worse and he can jog without much pain, but that trainers have advised him to keep weight off of it when possible.
Fellow running back Reggie Bush, who is recovering from a broken right leg, also did not practice on Thursday.
