ST. LOUIS (AP) -St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger sprained his right thumb in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, but returned after missing one possession.
Bulger was injured on a hit from the blind side by Robaire Smith after a pass with 7:18 left in the quarter. He was on one knee for a while and ended up trotting to the locker room for X-rays.
He was replaced by Gus Frerotte but returned with 10:30 to go in the fourth quarter after testing his arm on the sideline.
Bulger has started the last two games after missing two games with a pair of broken ribs, and threw his first touchdown pass since Week 2 against the 49ers with a 1-yarder to Torry Holt in the first quarter.
