NEW ORLEANS (AP) – All-Pro safety Darren Sharper has been added to the Saints’ active roster and is expected to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Sharper returned to practice the past week after opening the season on the physically unable to perform list, which required him to sit out the first six games. Sharper joins a secondary decimated by injuries to cornerbacks Tracy Porter, Jabari Greer and Randall Gay, allowing New Orleans to move Malcolm Jenkins from safety to cornerback as needed.
The Saints also have scratched linebacker Scott Shanle and have waived recently signed defensive back Quincy Butler.
Cleveland’s lineup scratches include hobbled quarterbacks Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme, receiver Mohamed Massaquoi and right tackle John St. Clair.
