GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – After not sacking Brett Favre once in two losses to the Vikings last year, the Green Bay defense feels it’s ready for Sunday night’s showdown.
The Packers are preparing to welcome back NFL sacks leader Clay Matthews for the game against Minnesota.
Matthews returned to practice this week after missing a game with a hamstring injury. Coach Mike McCarthy was optimistic Friday that Matthews will play, though the linebacker is listed as questionable on the injury report.
Green Bay also might have cornerback Al Harris and safety Atari Bigby available. Both former starters began practicing Wednesday after missing the first six weeks of the season.
Defensive end Ryan Pickett (ankle) and linebacker Brandon Chillar (shoulder) are questionable for the game, but both expect to play.
