HOUSTON (AP) -The Titans listed quarterback Vince Young as active, but said it was a game-time decision whether he or backup Kerry Collins would start Sunday against the Texans.
Young strained his right quadriceps in last week’s 13-10 loss at Tampa Bay when he scrambled for a 2-yard gain and was pushed out of bounds by defensive tackle Jovan Haye in the third quarter.
Young, a Houston native and former Texas star, practiced for the first time this week on Friday, but only worked with the scout team.
Two hours before Sunday’s game, Young was taking snaps in shorts and a T-shirt. He made short drops and simple throws as coach Jeff Fisher and the Titans’ training staff watched.
Collins completed 10 of 20 passes for 125 yards in place of Young last week, but was mostly ineffective until he engineered an 86-yard drive that resulted in a game-tying touchdown run from LenDale White.
Collins, in his 13th season, would be making his first start since Sept. 24, 2006, in Tennessee’s 13-10 loss at Miami.
