CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) – Former NFL star linebacker Junior Seau has been released from a San Diego hospital a day after plunging down a seaside cliff in his SUV.
Spokeswoman Lisa Ohmstede (OME’-sted) says Seau spent the night at Scripps La Jolla Hospital and was released at about 11 a.m. PDT Tuesday. She gave no details on his condition, but police described his injuries as minor.
Carlsbad police say the 12-time Pro Bowl linebacker was arrested hours before the crash on suspicion of domestic violence at the home he shares with his 25-year-old girlfriend.
Police say Seau fell asleep while driving in Carlsbad, and there was no evidence drugs or alcohol were involved.
Seau retired last season from the New England Patriots. He also spent 13 seasons with the San Diego Chargers and three with the Miami Dolphins.
