MIAMI (AP) – A person familiar with the Miami Dolphins’ operation says Bill Parcells is no working at the team’s complex but remains a consultant.
The person spoke Tuesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins didn’t comment on the situation.
Parcells began to reduce his role shortly before the season, when he gave control of the team to general manager Jeff Ireland. At that time, the Dolphins said Parcells would remain involved in daily operations, but his role now is more limited.
ESPN first reported that Parcells had left his office. The move underscores the extent to which Ireland and coach Tony Sparano are now responsible for the Dolphins, who are 3-2 going into Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh.
