CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The winless Carolina Panthers are changing quarterbacks again, benching struggling rookie Jimmy Clausen and turning again to Matt Moore.
Coach John Fox announced Monday that Moore will start on Sunday against San Francisco. The move comes as Carolina has scored a league-low 52 points and has the league’s worst-rated passing game.
Moore started the first two games, but was benched after committing six turnovers. Clausen hasn’t fared much better, completing just 47 percent of his passes with one touchdown and three interceptions. But Clausen has fumbled seven times, losing three.
Moore closed last season 4-1 as a starter in relief of Jake Delhomme, who was released in March.
