GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – The Green Bay Packers will put tight end Jermichael Finley on injured reserve, ending any hopes of him making a comeback from knee surgery later this season.
It’s more bad news for the Packers, who have been hit hard by injuries this season.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy says having Finley sit out the rest of the season is in the player’s best interest. Finley hurt his right knee in the Packers’ loss at Washington Oct. 10 and had surgery last week.
Finley’s roster spot will go to safety Anthony Smith once the Packers complete a pending trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
