NEW YORK (AP) - Comments on the New York Giants by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
---
NEW YORK GIANTS (2)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 2) - THAT'S why they're the defending champs.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 1) - The bigger the game, the better they play, and still the team to beat.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 3)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 3) - Convincing win on the road against a playoff team.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 2) - Sure looked like the defending champs in that 26-3 beatdown of the 49ers. Now they look to even their divisional record with consecutive games against the Redskins and Cowboys.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 2) - The Giants are the only offense ranked in the NFL's top 5 with a winning record at 4-2. The NFL's five top offenses have a combined 13-15 record.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 5) - Coach Tom Coughlin said his Giants are "a good team," but we knew that. We just didn't know they were better than San Francisco.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 3) - Another impressive win at Candlestick shows they still have the right stuff.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 3) - You don't go into San Francisco and win 26-3 and not move up. They played like the world champions and the pass rush came alive.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 3) - Statement game for the defending champs as they stomped the 49ers.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 2) - From an offense/defense/special teams standpoint, New York's 26-3 win at San Francisco was the most impressive victory posted by any team this season.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 3) - They reminded us Sunday that they were Super Bowl champions last year for a reason.
