FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis says he was ticketed for speeding Thursday morning while he was driving to the team’s facility for a meeting before practice.
The Jets confirmed Friday that Revis received a ticket for speeding – he says he was going 80 mph in a 40 mph zone – and careless driving on Eisenhower Parkway in Livingston, N.J.
Revis says he spoke with both coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum, and said he’s “not a speedster,” but was simply late for work. Ryan says the incident serves as a reminder to the team to be careful, and that “running late, that’s not an excuse.”
Revis adds that he won’t fight the ticket because, “I’ve got to follow the rules as well as everybody else.”
