SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh says the comments Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride made about All-Pro defensive end Justin Smith are ``outrageous'' and ``incendiary.''
Gilbride says the 49ers' Smith ``does a good job of grabbing ahold of offensive linemen'' and ``never gets called for it so he gets away with murder.''
Harbaugh fired back Friday, saying Gilbride's ``outrageous, irrational statement'' about Smith is ``an absurd analogy'' and is an ``incendiary comment.''
New York is at San Francisco on Sunday, the first game between the teams since the Giants beat the 49ers 20-17 in overtime in the NFC championship game.
