DENVER (AP) -Broncos rookie wideout Eddie Royal joined Selvin Young and Tony Scheffler on the sideline Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, taking away another option in the team’s high-powered offense.
Royal, third in the AFC with 30 receptions, was scratched with a sprained left ankle. Scheffler and Young were out with groin injuries, as was defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban.
Royal injured his ankle in the second half against Tampa Bay last weekend. He has 30 catches for 321 yards and two touchdowns this season.
The Jaguars were without defensive tackle Rob Meier and safety Reggie Nelson, both scratched with knee injuries.
Darrell Jackson, who’s missed the past four games with a strained calf, started in Royal’s spot. Michael Pittman started for Young in the Broncos’ backfield.
Tony McDaniel started in place of Meier and Gerald Sensabaugh filled in for Nelson.
