BEREA, Ohio (AP) – The Cleveland Browns have a new quarterback controversy. Other than rookie Colt McCoy, they don’t have a healthy one.
With Seneca Wallace going down with a sprained ankle during Sunday’s loss to Atlanta, and starter Jake Delhomme still stumbling on a tender ankle he hurt in the opener, the Browns may need to sign a proven QB for this week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Coach Eric Mangini says he will wait to see test results on Wallace before making a decision, but it’s likely the Browns (1-4) will add a quarterback to their roster in the next two days. Also, the Browns have to be worried about workhorse running back Peyton Hillis, who pulled a thigh muscle last week in practice and struggled during Sunday’s loss, gaining 28 yards on 10 carries.
