ASHBURN, Va. (AP) – Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis will be sidelined four to six weeks with a groin injury.
Coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday that Portis has a third degree separation of the left groin muscle. Portis was injured in Sunday’s 17-12 win over Philadelphia.
Portis has run for 195 yards on 49 carries this season.
Ryan Torain, promoted from the practice squad two weeks ago, takes over as the starting running back. Torain ran 18 times for 70 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles.
