LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) – Tommie Harris says he wants to stay with the Chicago Bears even though they benched him for the game against the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
The three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle gave an emphatic no when asked if he wants to be traded. He says he loves the city and the team and that he plays hard “every time I’m out there.”
But if he’s not playing?
Harris says that’s “not a big deal for me” and that “nothing really matters” as long as the team is winning.
At 3-0, the Bears are the lone unbeaten team in the NFC. Harris, however, has not come close to his old Pro Bowl level even though he’s practicing more than he has in recent memory after being limited by knee and hamstring problems the past few years.
